Gorran Movement and Japanese Consulate Discuss Transparency and Good Governance

A delegation from the Gorran Movement visited the Japanese Consulate in the Kurdistan Region to meet with the Japanese Consul, Mr. Hitoshi Ishizuka. The discussions focused on promoting good governance and the continuous development of bilateral relations.


During the meeting, the Gorran delegation—comprising Dler Abdulkhaliq, Rovan Sarwat, and Choman Mohammed—expressed a strong desire to draw upon Japan’s successful experiences in the areas of transparency, institutional strengthening, and effective administration. The delegation also underscored the vital role Japan plays in supporting the development of the political process and consolidating democracy within the Kurdistan Region.


Furthermore, both sides explored potential opportunities to benefit from Japanese assistance and development programs designated for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Particular emphasis was placed on the capacity-building initiatives led by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The meeting concluded by highlighting the importance of exchanging knowledge and expertise with Japanese political parties and institutions, with the shared goal of advancing political practices and enhancing democratic participation.
