The President of the Republic of Iraq, Abdullatif Jamal Rashid was officially welcomed by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, at Saadabad Palace in Tehran.
The media office of the presidency of the republic said in a statement, that “President Rashid and President Raisi held bilateral talks, and they discussed Baghdad- Tehran relations of friendship and how to boost them and strengthen their cooperation, in the areas of energy, water resources, environment, climate and tourism in the ways that would most serve both nations' ties.
Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of further collaboration and coordination on the issues of common concern to promote security and stability in the region.
The meeting's agenda included discussing several critical issues, focusing on the need to step up further efforts to ease tensions at regional and international levels and work together to strengthen the prospects for peace.
After the meeting, official talks between the two countries delegations were embarked on, and President Rashid led Iraq's delegation while President Raisi led Iran's delegation, and the mechanisms that would further enhance positive cooperation were also a part of the discussions.
President Rashid with Iraq's First Lady, Shanaz Ebrahim Ahmed, arrived in Iran upon an official invitation from the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi. Iraq's President was accompanied by several Ministers, advisors and senior officials.
