The director of the International Center for Development Studies, Sadq Al-Rukabi, revealed on Friday the poorest cities in Iraq.
"The poverty rates monitored between 2018 and 2022 were found to be rising from 2% to 3% rapidly, and Basra, Maysan and Nasiriyah in the south, and Mosul in the north, are among the poorest cities," al-Rukabi said in an interview.
He added that "the poverty line means the minimum income of a particular country, and in Iraq this limit ranges from two to three dollars, and accordingly, more than 12 million Iraqis do not receive 200,000 dinars per month, which is not enough for a family for days."
"The fault of governments is that they are working to increase salaries, instead of distributing that cash mass to service projects that will generate financial returns in the future," he said.
