Electricity Minister Ziad Ali Fadel confirmed on Thursday his intention to visit Iran to conclude a "clear agreement that guarantees Iraq stable quantities of gas" necessary to operate its power stations.
He added that he will visit Iran to meet with the Iranian Minister of Energy and Oil "and develop a clear agreement for Iraq quantities of gas equipped at a stable rate to avoid fluctuating quantities of energy produced for the next summer," noting that "Iraq seeks to sign a clear agreement that guarantees the rights of both parties and gives stability in the flow of gas quantities and thus the stability of the supply of electric power."
He pointed out that "there are important stations in Baghdad with a production rate of (4,500) megawatts that depend entirely on Iranian gas.
