The Office of Disaster Management has issued several guidelines on the prevention of lightning and urged citizens to adhere to them.
According to the Meteorological Forecast of the Kurdistan Region, a wave of rain and thunderstorms will hit the Kurdistan Region this evening and will continue until Sunday night.
The Kurdistan Region’s Crisis and Disaster Management Operations Room asks citizens “to turn off their mobile phones in the event of lightning if they are near a tall tree or under it; they should move away quickly.”
He urged people to stay away from electricity poles, telephone towers, and communication towers and not to stand in high places.
The Crisis and Disaster Management Operations Offie’s guidelines read: “If you are in an agricultural area, avoid areas with high trees as much as possible and try to reach a low-lying plain area with low trees.
He also advised them not to go to open spaces, while lightning is striking in the area, if they are in such a position they should lie down on the ground immediately and also stay away from metal equipment and beaches.
