Gorran Movement: Election is to create a service and responsible government

A delegation of the Gorran Movement met with the head of UNAMI office in the Kurdistan Region, in which they emphasized the need for the Kurdistan parliamentary elections on its time and the monitoring of the process by the international community, diplomats and international organizations.


  

 Today (June 31, 2024), Diler Abdulkhaliq, Spokesperson of the Gorran Movement, accompanied by Karzan Gardi, Head of the Erbil Office of the Electoral Chamber, met with Francis Lanau, Head of UNAMI Office in the Kurdistan Region. The main topics of the meeting were the Kurdistan parliamentary elections and the human rights situation.



 The meeting expressed the views of the Gorran Movement on the importance of holding elections on October 20, 2024, emphasizing the role of the United Nations and observers in the preparation and conduct of the process and ensuring the voting packet;  It should not become a new political crisis, but the beginning of opening the blind knot of problems and consensus of the political parties, to form a service and responsible government, in line with the expectations and wishes of the citizens of the region.



 For his part, the head of UNAMI office, referred to the political, technical and logistical assistance of the United Nations, which is provided to the Iraqi Independent High Election Commission, to conduct the election process, while monitoring the process in contact with diplomats and organizations  Ensure the conduct of the elections and other stages of the process.
