Berivan Aiub will be released in the middle of this month

The Erbil Court of Appeal jailed Berivan Ayub to two years in prison, which will be released on the 15th of this month.

On Sunday, 17 months after his arrest, Berivan Ayub Hassan was tried in erbil's appeals court and sentenced to two years in prison.

 

Bashdar Hassan, head of the Badinan detainees' lawyers team, said Berivan's sentence will be reduced for three months each year and should be released.

Berivan will be released this month, following a 17-month prison sentence, according to information provided by KNN reporter.

 

Berivan Ayub Hassan, an activist for the 2020 demonstrations in Duhok province, was arrested on October 13 last year on charges of "destroying national security".

Berivan, 36, with five children, her husband separated from Berivan after her arrest.
