Thousands protests in Sulaymaniyah against Turkey's Afrin assault

Thousands march in Sulaymaniyah city on Monday to support people of Afrin and protest Turkey's assault on Afrin.

One the demonstration organizer told KNN  that they are condemning Turkey's attack against Afrin urging the international community to prevent Turkey to attack Afrin and innocent people. 

Protesters chanting YPG fighters, holding the portraits of YPG fighter, Avesta Khabur of YPJ (the all-female force of YPG), who was sacrificing her life to destroy a Turkish tank in Hememe village on Saturday in clashes with Turkish troops.

 “Afrin is not alone” and “Kurdistan Bashur [the Kurdistan Region] is with Afrin,” Protesters chanted during the protest.

Sulaymaniyah's Protesters called on the Turkish government to halt the military campaign against Afrin.

Turkey army launched operation "Olive Branch" on January 20 against the Syrian Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) in Afrin. The YPG has admitted they lost 43 fighters as of Saturday since the operation began.

At least 51 civilians have been killed since the start of the operation on January 21, the Observatory stated including 17 children and seven women.
